Description: The Sherwood Rise project is a contemporary residential development comprising twelve high-quality dwellings — six one-bedroom and six two-bedroom apartments — on a site that previously accommodated a single dwelling at 13 Sherwood Rise. The scheme has been thoughtfully designed to make efficient use of the urban plot while contributing positively to the surrounding streetscape through a refined, modern architectural language.
Following the successful attainment of all statutory approvals, the development is now emerging on site. Our team has been appointed to deliver the project from RIBA Stages 3 to 7, working in close collaboration with the client, consultants, and construction team to ensure design integrity and build quality are maintained throughout. The proposal focuses on contemporary living, sustainable materials, and well-balanced internal layouts that maximise space, light, and comfort — creating a distinctive yet contextual addition to the neighbourhood.

Description:AM2 Architects was commissioned to develop a series of feasibility studies for a strategic land parcel within East Midlands. The brief explored a range of potential uses — including distribution centres, office spaces, and a lorry park — requiring a flexible and future-proof masterplan capable of accommodating diverse functions.
The central design challenge lay in integrating large-scale industrial activity within a framework that remained environmentally sensitive and human-centric. Our approach emphasised the retention and enhancement of a green corridor running through the site, promoting ecological connectivity and opportunities for recreation. By carefully balancing operational efficiency with landscape and social value, the proposal envisions a sustainable and people-friendly environment where industry and nature coexist. Delivered through RIBA Stages 0–3, the masterplan establishes a clear vision and strategic foundation for future development while safeguarding the site’s long-term environmental and community potential.

Description: AM2 Architects successfully secured full planning approval for a 69-bed student accommodation scheme incorporating three ground-level retail units in the heart of Nottingham city centre. Designed and delivered from RIBA Stages 0–7, the project reflects a contemporary architectural approach that responds sensitively to its urban context while contributing to the vibrancy of the surrounding streetscape. The development is currently under construction and progressing steadily toward completion.
Beyond the immediate scheme, our team has prepared a wider masterplan for the adjoining plots, establishing a cohesive vision for future regeneration of the area. This strategic framework provides a consistent design language and clear development parameters for neighbouring sites, ensuring any future projects contribute harmoniously to the evolving character of the district. Working closely with local planning authorities, AM2 continues to promote thoughtful, integrated urban design that enhances both community and commercial potential in Nottingham’s city centre.

Clients Brief: This project involved the design of a modern industrial development on a highly visible roadside site, offering both commercial prominence and logistical efficiency. The scheme was conceived to balance functionality with strong visual identity — creating an architectural expression that enhances the character of the surrounding industrial landscape. The building’s massing and form were carefully composed to maximise frontage visibility while maintaining efficient internal layouts suited to flexible industrial use.
Robust materials and a restrained palette were selected to convey durability and professionalism, while strategic glazing and articulated façades provide visual interest for passing traffic. Practical considerations such as access, service routes, and circulation were integrated seamlessly into the site plan. The result is an industrial development that not only performs efficiently but also presents a strong, contemporary image — turning a utilitarian brief into an opportunity for design-led commercial distinction.

Description: This feasibility study explores the revitalisation of a central urban block into a vibrant mixed-use destination. The proposal integrates a balance of commercial, residential, and office uses, aiming to elevate the town’s overall standards while maintaining its familiar sense of scale. The architectural approach carefully fragments the building massing to preserve a village-like rhythm along the street, using smaller façade modules and varied frontages to create a human-scale experience that feels organic and approachable.
At the heart of the proposal lies a flexible pedestrian corridor designed as a shared social space. This central zone accommodates food carts, street vendors, and pop-up markets, encouraging everyday interaction and a lively public realm. Together, these layers of activity create a balanced environment — one that supports economic growth and community connection while reinforcing the intimate, small-town character that defines the place.

Location: East Drayton, Nottingham
Description: This project delivered six new build homes in the historic village of East Drayton, on a site surrounded by neighbouring properties and sharing an access drive with the Blue Bell Inn. Its location within a Conservation Area required a sensitive approach, so we worked closely with the conservation officer and planning department throughout the design process.
To avoid creating a typical tarmac-heavy development, we introduced green spaces at the front of each home, softening the streetscape and reflecting the village’s rural character. Because the scheme included six dwellings, we also explored the adoption of part of the access road to meet highways requirements and ensure long-term usability.
The homes were designed with traditional external appearances to blend with their surroundings, while offering modern, efficient internal layouts suited to family living. The result is a thoughtful, context-led development that respects the character of East Drayton and enhances its wider setting.

Description: AM2 Architects was commissioned to design a contemporary mixed-use development on a prominent city-centre site in the East Midlands. Positioned along a key route and acting as a gateway to the wider regeneration area, the building occupies a highly visible location that sets the tone for future urban renewal. The project represents the first step in redefining and upgrading this part of the city centre, establishing a benchmark for quality and design ambition.
The client and local council sought a bold, modern vision that could spark conversation and encourage further investment in the area. Our proposal responds to this brief through a clean, contemporary architectural language and a strong urban presence, while maintaining sensitivity to the surrounding context. The site, currently underused, is being carefully studied in collaboration with planning officers to deliver a feasible, forward-thinking scheme that combines functionality, identity, and civic value.

The design aims to transform this underused site into a vibrant, sustainable community that responds to both local character and modern living needs.
Sustainability is a key driver in every stage of the project. Environmental resilience is also prioritised through considered surface-water management solutions, including sustainable drainage systems to minimise run-off. Description: Our team was commissioned to deliver a comprehensive development that includes the refurbishment and extension of two existing barns, alongside a masterplan for six new rural homes. The process began with a detailed assessment of the site’s historic significance, ensuring that every design decision respected the character and heritage of the surrounding landscape. A thorough typology study was carried out to determine the most appropriate house types and aesthetic qualities for the area, guiding the architectural language of both the restored barns and the new-build properties.
This careful attention to context, proportion, and materiality has resulted in a cohesive and sensitive scheme that blends modern living with the charm of rural architecture. As the development nears completion—with several units already sold—the project stands as a testament to how contemporary design can enhance and preserve the unique historical and aesthetic qualities of its setting while creating high-quality homes for modern families.
